Little Bits of This and That

I'm so sorry it has been so long! I hope you guys didn't give up on me! Spring is such a hectic time around here and I just can't seem to find the time to devote to a full blog post but I thought something was better than nothing and that I could just share a couple little things with you instead! I have been spending most of my time pricing, painting, and packaging things for the Springfield (Ohio) Antique Show that I am selling at this month but I have found a moment here and there to do some other things on my list. It seems lately that I work on a lot of things, but finish nothing:/ Our tractor is broken and the outside looks like a jungle and makes me want to cry so I almost feel like it is better to just focus on inside things for now anyways.

One of the things that I finally got to was organizing my sewing area. I will do a full blog post with lots of pictures of this area but for now I wanted to give you a little sneak peek. I just love love love vintage sewing notions and simple primitive textiles like ticking and getting all of mine organized has been on my to do list for quite some time now.

Now seemed like the time to get it done because due to the fact that I couldn't seem to find the old fashioned style of pillows that I love the look of I was inspired to make my own and then had tons of requests from people to make them some and therefore have been doing a lot of sewing (had been until my sewing machine started giving me trouble).

The response to the pillows that I made for my etsy shop was amazing and they all sold in 24 hours! I do plan to make more as soon as my sewing machine gets back from the shop.

I have lots of ideas for different pillows (maybe some like the one I made below) and can't wait to get back at it.

I have been going through all of my stuff to decide what to keep and what I am ready to let go of and sell at the antique show and so that always leads to organizing and display changes around the house. My blue and white quilts found a new home in our step back cupboard for now, they are just too pretty to be unseen.

Hopefully soon I will have the time to show you how our amazing fireplace turned out and some other changes I have made around the house. MAKE sure to follow me on Instagram because I post things on there everyday. As soon as the antique show is over I will begin working on the front porch of our farmhouse and can't wait! I have been waiting 7 long years to make it pretty again and will be showing daily pics on Instagram of my progress.

Don't forget to come see me and shop at FARMHOUSESUPPLY at the Springfield Antique Show Extravaganza in Ohio, Clark County Fair Grounds, May 20, 21. and 22nd!!! I am booth # 551 and 552!!! It's not just an awesome show because I am there:)...it is a truly amazing antique/boutique type show, I can't imagine what you are looking for that you can't find at this show!!!

A Cozy Corner

I love this time of year...laying under a quilt in the evenings watching a scary movie with all the candles lit. I love making a room cozy and this is the perfect time of year to do so and it is especially fun when you have new goodies to work with!

This corner of our family room has lots of new goodies in it. I bought the dresser at the end of the couch when Neal and I went to Niagara On The Lake, Canada for our 10 year anniversary this past summer. We went to an Antique Co-op Lakeshore Antiques while we were there and it is was full of so many things I wanted. I stood and looked at this amazing dresser for over an hour while Neal's stomach ate itself, much to his dismay. It meant putting other things back but I knew this dresser had to be mine.

I loved the way the sewing machine table looked here but the truth is I needed something with storage in this space. And the best part about it is that it's on casters so I can easily wheel it out when I need in the drawers! The dresser had very ugly handles on it but I changed those out for some more fitting ones that cost only $1 a piece that I found at Buffalo ReUse  on our last trip there.

The little white corner cupboard is also a purchase I made this past summer. I found it in Tidioute, PA in an antique store called Tidioute Consignment. Tidioute is where the cabin we stay at is and we are actually going there this weekend for our women and kids only annual fall trip. It's my favorite place on earth and I can't wait and I will definitely be visiting the antique shop again.

I just love the little cupboard, it has the cutest little drawer and the original blue milk paint inside even!

The ironstone bowl with the pumpkins in it is also new, costing me a whole dollar at the flea market:)

I have a couple other things I wanted to share from the this room but the sunlight was just not co-operating when I was taking these pictures so hopefully next week. This is just about the only room that I can make pretty right now. I am preparing the dining room for some reno work as we are going to be putting in the new windows and taking down the plaster and lath ceiling sometime this month.

Until next time....stay cozy!

Some Little Changes In Millie's Room

I wanted to share some new additions to Millie's room with you. First off being the alabaster lamp that I found at the Goodwill for $7! Very exciting indeed!

The second new thing in her room are the curtains. I am not a big fan of curtains but the sun kept shinning right into her crib when she was napping and something needed to be done about it. I suddenly remembered that I had bought a small piece of this beautiful fabric over ten years ago in the hopes that I would someday have a little girl. Well the fabric remnant sat patiently in my stack of fabrics all this time and I finally was able to do something with it.

The quilt hanging over the side of the crib is the one that I mentioned buying a couple of weeks ago. The pale blue is the perfect compliment to all the other pale shades in the room and is the same blue as in the curtains, I love when that kind of thing happens!

My sister made the sign on the shelf above the crib, she made it for my shop but I thought it would look cute in Millie's room. I may sell it eventually, but for now I love it in here.

I just had to share this adorable dress that my sister-in-law sent....too cute! My mother-in-law and sister-in-law are always sending Millie the most adorable clothes, she is always going to be so well dressed thanks to them:)

And while we are on the subject of Millie how about a current picture?:)

Thanks for stopping by and please make sure to stop back on Friday for this months edition of FARMHOUSE FRIDAY!

Blue and White

I know I say it every year but when it gets to be the end of winter I always end up wanting to scrub everything from top to bottom and change things around while I am doing it. I also always feel the need to get rid of stuff. I guess I get the spring cleaning bug but just a little too soon?  I guess it is good though because come spring I don't have the time to be inside cleaning! Anyways, I got the idea that I wanted to change up what I had in this cupboard and as I was cleaning I decided I should take some pictures of all of the blue and white with the pretty sunshine coming in (you would never know it was -10 degrees outside from the pictures).

Below you can see my slowly growing collection of blue and white quilts. I have a major itch to get out and do some antique hunting as I always do come this time of year. I have some things I am on the hunt for and I love finding unique items for my shop as well. What things are you guys on the hunt for this coming flea market season?

Here is a peek at my new cupboard....I will tell you all about in my next post!

I hope you are all staying nice and warm despite the frigid temperatures ....we are hopefully getting our new furnace put in tomorrow...hurrah!
