Living Room Changes

I wanted to share some changes that I made to our living room. I had this beautiful round table in our attic and I really wanted to find a place for it. Coincidentally my son needed a table for when he does puzzles or crafts, at least one that I wasn't always clearing off in preparation for the next meal or project. So I thought why not bring down the round table from the attic?!

It fits wonderfully in this little corner, I bought this table for the tiny kitchen we had in our last house, it was only $50 and I almost wrecked my car when I saw it on the sidewalk for sale (I do that quite often actually)! I moved the bench in from another room and it made for the perfect little seating area.

Another thing I am really excited about finding is the slipcover I have on the chair, I found two of them on Ebay. Yes I know it needs to be ironed but I had to take advantage of the sunshine and my husband and son being outside and snap these pictures when I had the chance!

They are just my style, muted colors and striped. They don't fit great but they are better than cranberry colored chairs. I am going to put the other one on the wing back chair we have in our kitchen (yes I plan to show the kitchen).

I changed up what I had on the walls because I wanted to incorporate some woods tones into the corner. I like decorating with things that have or once had a purpose. And as you have seen from past posts I have an obsession with fly screens and old cutting or bread boards.

I finally feel like the rooms of our house are cohesive, which I think is so important in good design. It is especially important in our house because no matter what room you stand in you can see 3 or 4 other rooms. I like when rooms are calm and cozy and ease into one another anyways.

Speaking of easing into another room, I need to get to my couch....it is almost time for Downton!

  5. Hi Megan, such a nice addition to the already perfect room. I have been admiring your window/door trim and the raised panels under the windows. Is that all original? It's so unique . . .
Sounds like I'm missing out on a good show, maybe I should start huh.
    Have a good week. . .

    1. Thank you Debi! Yes all the trim is original, the living room is the only one with the detailed molding though. Its one of the many things that I feel in love with when we first looked at the house. And yes you should start watching Downton...but start at the beginning!

  6. Hi Megan!

So happy I found your blog! I was born and raised in Meadville, lived in Erie a number of years and now live in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. So with all the blogs I follow it is so nice to read one close to home. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful farmhouse, it is truly inspiring! On my next trip to Erie, I cannot wait to visit Romantique Boutique.

  7. I'm such a fan of your style. I love farmhouse style and the fact that you actually live in an old charming farmhouse makes it even better! Love your slipcover and the round table there by the fireplace. Ah....to have a fireplace in the kitchen would be my dream! I will just have to live vicariously through you then. I am your newest follower!

  8. Hi, I absolutely love this! How cozy this looks with the table in the corner
and the fireplace with it's beautiful mantle. I love your decorating!
I am admiring the long windows... are they original to the house or are they
new windows?...They look real farmhouse original (antique)....long with beautiful molding around and underneath of them. I love the old windows. I know there comes a time when windows need replacing, but I always hope people will consider restoring the old before replacing the old with new. I love visiting here....it is always so cozy!

    1. Thank you so much! Yes they are the original windows, and I love them too! We are trying to keep as much of the original stuff as possible as we renovate because all those little details are why we bought it in the first place. If there is anything that I hate it is when people buy an old house but then replace everything that is old! Thanks for visiting!
