Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! This post comes a little late but today was the first chance I have had to share all of the pictures that I took over the holidays, it has been such a busy holiday season for us!

I kept my decorating simple this year as usual, both inside and out. We put a real tree on our front porch and I must say I love it so much I think it is going to have to become a yearly thing.

We did endless baking again this year...the kids and I just love it.

In the kitchen some new flea market finds like the French Butcher sign, the basket and the $5 spice drawers pair perfectly with some ironstone, my wooden spoon collection and some pine boughs.

I kept things simple in the dining room as well. Lots of candles and a fresh tree with just lights on it make it cozy but not cluttered looking and left room for when all of the presents started piling up.

Of course warm quilts with lots of texture and cozy places to sit are always a must this time of year too.

A giant pickle jar has become my new favorite candle holder, get used to seeing it quite a lot.

Kept the gift wrapping simple too...what can I say that is just how I like things!

Not to sound cliche but one of the things that I love most about Christmas is the "togetherness" of it. We bake together, we make together, we shop together.  And no matter how busy the day gets we always make time in the evenings to sit together and enjoy the tree or watch a Christmas movie. The togetherness is also why each year I seem to make things more and more simple at Christmas time. The less time I spend getting bins out of the attic and sorting through them is the more time I can spend with my kids doing the important things. Christmas can be simple and still be beautiful.

Speaking of the kids...they always decorate the tree below with handmade ornaments from over the years but the week after Christmas I like to take them off and just leave the lights on it. I love after the chaos of Christmas and the wrapping paper and bags and cookie tins everywhere to get all of that put away and make things around the house extra simple but still super cozy.

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to all of you that supported our new small business in our first full year open and for helping make it so successful! Your love and support means the world to us. We were blown away by the amount of people that came to shop on our Christmas Open House and it was our most successful event yet! I will be sharing some plans we have for the new year and, show dates and our Spring Open House date soon!

In the meantime I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years, we sure did but as always it just goes too fast!

I know that bloggers are supposed to be ahead of the game when it comes to sharing their seasonal decorating but I am finding it harder and harder to find the time to blog so thank you all for being so patient with me! I do love blogging and I will never tire of photography or sharing my decorating and our home so please just bear with me! May your new year be wonderful and until next time all my best to you!

P.S. I know I have said it a million times but please follow me on Instagram for daily FARMHOUSE5540 inspiration, all our current renovations  and for shop updates!

  3. Your decorating is so simple but beautiful; I love it. I find myself cutting back on decorations as well as the house seems to empty when the things are put away.
