A New Office Space

So I wanted to show you where I put the new white table that I recently posted about.

This is the upstairs bedroom in our house, I wish it could be the master bedroom but being there is only one bedroom upstairs that would leave our son on the ground level by himself. We plan to expand the upstairs at some point down the road so that all of the bedrooms are up there. For now though this serves as a guest room.

I thought the table would be great up here because I could make a little office area. And then I thought, "This office area needs an old fashion organizer"! I found this amazing one on Etsy, it was hand made and then painted many years back, perfect color and all.

It has been really fun looking for cute little things to fill the spaces with.

Most of these items are recent flea market and yard sale finds. I will often buy a box of items for a $1 or $2 at the flea market not really knowing what is inside. I love to go through them when I get home. I usually find the neatest things, like that pencil sharpener or the old cow.

The shelf is also a flea market find that I painted and then distressed a little. I love that it has pegs.

On rainy days I have been working on trying to get this room as a whole finished. I took down the paneling and repaired and painted the walls a couple of years ago. I had originally painted the walls stark white but I felt like the space was cold so I spent last week painting it "Antique White" by Glidden.

I will be showing the entire room soon, I just have some finishing touches to make. Hope you enjoyed what you have seen so far.

Blue and Red Boy's Room

I was cleaning my son's room and thought why not show it on my blog?

You know how I feel about color but my son loves red and blue so I painted the walls "Sisal" by Martha Stewart to create a calm back drop for all of the vibrant colors. Most items in his room are from the flea market, thrift store or were hand made.

Like this old library cart that I found at the thrift store for $10. I just painted it blue to match everything else. It is perfect for holding his many books. The red can is a flea market find that I put his blocks in. You know how I feel about cute storage.

Neal made this long book holder when our son was a baby to go along side his crib. Once we moved the crib out and the bed in it still seemed to work. I have been on the search for a great head board...last week at the flea market I saw a cute metal head board for $10....but I had to no way to get it home:(

I found a large piece of wood in that "Discounted Wood Remnants" bin at the Home Depot for $2. I painted it with chalk board paint and then had my sister paint "Eli's Workshop" on it for above his workbench.

I found the Ikea duvet cover on Ebay and the little quilt I found on Etsy.

And I just found this adorable Country Living pillow yesterday at Gabriels.  I don't know if you have a Gabriels where you live but they have the best deals.

The framed picture is a page from a calender that my sister framed for her kids years back and then passed on to me. Old jars keep Eli's small toys organized but still visible. And we just found this adorable barn for $2 at a yard sale last week...I am teaching my son early how to spot a good deal:)

There is more I want to show of his room but it started to cloud up as I was taking these pictures, so stay tuned. Thanks for visiting and I hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend!

The Perfect White Table

I couldn't wait to share my latest flea market finds with you, I bought some really great items yesterday at our flea market. Actually I bought some really amazing things on my way to the flea market....

like this awesome white table for $25! I saw a guy on the side of the road selling stuff and among the things was this white table. I was beyond excited, it is perfectly aged, the perfect white, has great legs, it is my new favorite thing to say the least. I have a thing for tables, I actually bought another antique one yesterday for $15. My car was jam packed by the time I left the flea market, I think it is time I got a truck actually.

At the flea market I found lots of things in that perfect blue gray color that I love so much. I will be selling some of these things in my Etsy shop so stay tuned.

I already found the perfect place for the cute bench I bought. I put it right between our wicker chairs on our porch.

I also bought some really great things at some yard sales my mom, sister and I stopped at in up state New York last week. I will show you those things soon, one of these days I am going to have more time on my hands:)

Lilacs

Our lilac bushes are in full bloom and I love filling the house with cuttings. We have 4 lilac bushes, two huge ones that were planted at least 50 years ago and I have planted two since we have been here.

My $3 flea market basket is perfect for holding the cuttings till I get them inside.

This crock I picked up at the flea market for $2 makes for the perfect vase for the shorter cuttings.

I bought these antique church books at the flea market...I just love the coloring and the wear on them from years and years of people opening them up to sing in church.

And I promise this is the last time I will mention it but don't forget tomorrow is my TAG SALE...come if you can. I have 4 car loads of stuff!!!

It will be May 11th at Stewart Hall (218 Mercer St. Harmony PA 16037) in Harmony PA starting at 9 AM. Hope to see you there!

Flea Market Goodies

I found some great deals at the flea market on Sunday...this was what my trunk looked like by the time I left.

Good stuff huh?

I hung the mirror I bought for $3 in our mudroom so that you can see what you look like on your way out. I thought the old laundry sack would be perfect for holding plastic bags. And I love the old watering can with the rope handle.

I will show you where and what I do with all my other goodies sometime soon. I actually haven't even had the time to go through a lot of the stuff I bought. Between getting everything ready for the Tag Sale this weekend and trying to get all of my flower beds mulched and my garden in I am feeling a bit stressed this week I must say. It has been so beautiful outside here the last week and I have been working non-stop in my yard. Hopefully next week I will have an evening that I can sit on my porch and relax with a glass of wine and a magazine.

A Diamond In The Rough

Boy oh boy did I luck out yesterday! As I was driving to the grocery store I saw a garage sale sign and decided to check it out. I drove back a road some ways and then saw a large garage with 1970's furniture and kids bikes out front. I got that "Oh there is nothing here for me" feeling, if you frequent garage sales you know just what I mean.

Well boy was I wrong! I walked inside the garage and what did I see among lots of outdated clothes and ugly lamps, but this beauty! I couldn't believe my eyes and it was only $5!

I have lots of yellowware bowls but none in this soft creamy white color.

It is right at home on my kitchen island and call me cheesy but I talk to it every time I walk past it, I just love it so much. It made my day and to top it off I got free fish to cook up for dinner from the guy at the antique place I stopped at on my way home (that's another story).

So the moral of the story is...if you go to a garage sale and all you see are kids clothes and toys don't be scared off you just never know what might me hiding in there!

Old Fence New Ironstone

I made a stop at my favorite shop Romantique Boutique yesterday and I found something that I have been looking for forever...an ironstone footed bowl! These are so hard to find and usually very expensive when you do find them. This one was very affordable however due to some minor cracks.

I placed it on our round table along with some other recent finds.

The beautiful daffodils are from our property, to my delight they grow by the hundreds in our woods. I placed them in a $2 thrift store vase. And the old lantern piece is from TumbleweedHome on Etsy. I just love  the rustic look it gives the table setting and a candle looks so pretty burning in it.

And look at these amazing fence pieces that I also got at Romantique Boutique. I can't wait to do something fun with these, but for now I think they look pretty good right on our porch.

And when I haven't been rototilling or spreading mulch I have been getting everything priced for the tag sale.
Once again....the Tag Sale will be May 11th at Stewart Hall (218 Mercer St. Harmony PA 16037) in Harmony PA starting at 9 AM. Please come if you can, Harmony is right off of Interstate 79 and there are many cute shops to visit and you can eat at the historic Harmony Inn.

Happy Day!
